Arteta lauds his Gunners after brilliant displays in pre-season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is happy with how his Gunners have performed so far in their preseason tour in the USA.
The north London club have played three games, scoring nine goals and winning all three following the 4-0 thumping of Chelsea to claim the Florida Cup.
“Yeah I’m really happy,” Arteta said as the club’s official website quoted. “With the performance in general and with the tour.
“The attitude from a club perspective to show here, and all the work we have done and understand how big we are and the amount of support that we get.
“Then obviously the performance today is a really good example again, that we are moving forward, improving a lot as a team, but don’t get carried away. It’s a test match and there are still a lot of things to do to get better.”
Asked whether Arsenal supporters should be excited about this team, Arteta said: “Yes, but it was a friendly match. As you could see there are a lot of positives to take from the game. The way we played, the intensity we showed, the way we were trying to show who we are as a team.
“But at the same time, it’s just a test match. Don’t get carried away. There are still a lot of things that we have to get better at, and do better. But I think it’s good to get some momentum, finish the tour in the right way, give some enjoyment to our fans and everybody that’s been contributing to make this tour happen.
“Now it’s time to go back to London, to focus and keep making improvements and steps forwards.”
Arteta also spoke about the importance of getting business done early in the transfer window ahead of the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
“It’s ideal for any coach that you ask, the earlier you get the players, the better," the Spaniard explained. “Because you need to get them in the cohesion of the team, understanding each other, relaxed and comfortable socially around the team and the fact that he (Jesus) has been with us for a few weeks makes a huge difference.”
