Mikel Arteta insists that the Arsenal board must do whatever they can to keep captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club beyond this summer.

The Gunners striker, who has scored 20 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions this season, is out of contract in 2021, leaving his future at the Emirates in doubt.

However, Arteta is hoping the 30-year-old continues to ply his trade at the north London.

Speaking today, ahead of Arsenal's clash against West Ham this weekend, the Spaniard said as the Mirror quoted: “We will have to do that [sort out his deal] before the end of the season.

“I want to keep him in any circumstances.”
