Lucas Torreira will be facing a spell on the sidelines.
Arsenal football club revealed that midfielder Lucas Torreira has suffered a broken ankle.
The midfield marshal was taken off on a stretcher in the Gunners' FA Cup 2-0 win over Portsmouth on Monday.
The Uruguay international was tackled just 12 minutes into the match at Fratton Park, and couldn't play any longer as he was stretched off the pitch.
He left the stadium after the game on crutches, wearing a protective boot.
And, Arsenal have now confirmed that he suffered a fracture to his right ankle and he will be out of action for a while.
A statement from the north London club said they are “awaiting further specialist reviews which will determine recovery plan.”
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Mikel Arteta said: “He [Torreira] was quite positive this morning. We don’t know the [full] extent of the injury.
"It’s part of football, we have to adapt. It happens to other teams, we cannot cry about it.”
