Arsenal great Keown heaps praise on ‘top draw’ Saka

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

Arsenal edged towards qualifying for the Europa League knockout stage with a narrow win at Bodo/Glimt.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has labelled Bukayo Saka as a “top draw” player, adding that the England winger is “showing the way for the younger generation.”

Saka continued his scoring ways in the Europa League as his 24th-minute goal helped the Gunners beat Bodo/Glimt 1-0 at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old has now scored three goals in his past two games, following a brace against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arsenal’s win over the Norwegian club leaves them five points clear of third-placed Bodo/Glimt, who have played a game more, and two points ahead of PSV Eindhoven.

Saka's ‘showing the way.’

Speaking to BT Sport at full-time, former Arsenal and England defender Keown said: "I think all in all Mikel Arteta will be happy, he might have wanted a better result but they ground out the result and just did enough.

"They live to fight another day, keeping the winning habit going. Yes, there's work to do, but they keep proving they can challenge Manchester City to the title this season."

Asked if his thoughts on Bukayo Saka's performance, he replied: "He's top draw and he's now showing the way for the next generation.

"The club is together now, they know their talent that's emerging and it's like a soccer factory. The youth prospects they have are dangerous."

'Saka was really good.'

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said of match-winner Bukayo Saka getting better: “Yes, but again he can become much better. He had moments in the game where he was really good and then moments he can improve and demand more of himself, especially defensively. There were moments where we allowed their left full-back to progress the play and break our press too easily. There a lot of things to improve."
