Arteta pleased with Gunners performance in the London derby against Fulham.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was delighted his team showed determination against Fulham in their opening Premier League game of the season.
The Gunners secured a 3-0 victory over The Whites on Saturday afternoon, thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette, new centre-back Gabriel, and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Speaking to BT Sport after the brilliant win at Craven Cottage, Arteta said: "I wanted to see my team determined with a lot of energy and do the things we did in training. We did it today.
"Gabriel didn't play for six months before today. Mohamed Elneny was brilliant. He has been excellent in training since day one. I know him well - we played together. Today he was phenomenal. All the boys tried really hard."
On the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang contract situation: "I'm really positive we'll get it done. Hopefully, in the next few days, you can get some news."
Goalscorer Alexandre Lacazette says starting the 2020-21 Premier League campaign with a brilliant “win” and a “clean sheet” is the “best way” and he pledged his future to the North London club.
The French striker said: "It was the best way to start the season. We wanted to win and have a clean sheet and respect what the coach wanted. Everyone is happy.
"He wants us to be perfect. We worked in the week for this kind of game. We have a lot of big ambitions. I want to help the team to be on top I know it is my job.
"I am really happy [at Arsenal]. It is only the press and other people that say I am not. I want to play and win titles. We want to be aggressive with and without the ball and improve every aspect of our game."
