Barca's new signing wants to learn from Lionel Messi.
Messi Barca transfer speculation rumbles on.
Pedri would like Lionel Messi to continue plying his trade at Barcelona so he can "learn from the best" footballer.
Barca signed the 17-year-old in September 2019 from Las Palmas but he stayed at the Segunda División club for the rest of the 2019-20 campaign.
He was unveiled as a Barcelona player on Thursday with president Josep Maria Bartomeu and new sporting director Ramon Planes – who was recently named as Eric Abidal's successor present - at the occasion.
Pedri, however, is looking forward to working with Messi at the Camp Nou amid rumours linking the Argentina superstar with a move away from the Blaugrana.
"It's not every day you can sign for this club," Pedri said as Goal reported.
"I'm really looking forward to doing great things, but the pressure is the worst a footballer can have. You have to get rid of it as soon as possible and replace it with excitement.
He added: "My idol has always been Andres Iniesta and now I want to learn from the best, which is Leo Messi."
Pedri could be sent out on loan for the second time so he can get games under his belt.
"The first option is to stay here and have fun with the best, although a transfer is not an option that I've ruled out," he admitted.
"You have to take [pressure] off from the first moment. You must have the enthusiasm to enjoy each day and hope that everything goes well."
