Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has shared an encouraging update on his recovery from the Achilles tendon issues that sidelined him in late August. In an exclusive interview with the club, the Danish international expressed optimism about his progress and determination to return stronger.
"I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel," Christensen revealed. The Achilles issue forced him out of first-team activities, but his recovery is now on track following a minor surgical procedure. "We did a small surgery. It's so small that it can be considered cleaning. Nothing that's going to affect my timeline. If so, it's actually going to make it a bit faster," he explained.
Focused on a Full Recovery
Christensen emphasised the importance of taking things step by step to ensure a complete recovery. "To start to feel confident and comfortable in different movements will be the next step, so I hope they'll see me very soon. It's a work in progress," he said.
While the road back has been challenging, Christensen’s determination remains unwavering. "I'm not enjoying it, but I am looking forward to every day – it's a day less every day," he added, describing his mindset during the rehabilitation process.
Eyeing a Return to the First Team
The defender acknowledged the frustration of watching his teammates play while he remains on the sidelines but stressed the importance of returning at full strength. "Right now, it's very much the focus, like [Hansi Flick] also tells me, that it's very important that I come back 100%," Christensen shared.
For now, Christensen remains dedicated to his recovery, working towards rejoining Barcelona’s squad as soon as possible. His positive outlook and commitment to returning stronger underline his importance to the team as they push forward this season.
