The World Cup winner Neuer faces fresh competition from Alexander Nubel.
Uli Hoeness says he would be very happy to see Manuel Neuer sign a new deal with Bayern Munich.
There have been reports suggesting the 34-year-old, who is also a Chelsea target, could seal a move away from the Allianz Arena after the Bundesliga giants agreed to bring in goalkeeper Alexander Nubel from Schalke in June.
But, the former Bayern president insists that the German champions are keen to tie down the veteran goalkeeper to a new contract.
"I would very much appreciate it and would be very happy if Manuel Neuer would stay at Bayern for the next few years because he is still the best goalkeeper in the world," Hoeness told Kicker.
"I also believe that Nubel's signing is 100 per cent correct and was a brilliant decision by [sporting director] Hasan Salihamidzic."
