Bruno Fernandes Commits to Manchester United with New Deal

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reaffirmed his commitment to the club by signing a new long-term contract, which includes the option for an additional year. This renewal is a significant boost for manager Erik ten Hag as the Red Devils gear up for the new season.

Fernandes, who joined United in January 2020 and has since won three Player of the Year awards, had faced speculation about his future. However, those doubts have been resolved with this new deal, ensuring that he will continue to lead the team.

In a statement, Fernandes expressed his deep connection to Manchester United: “Everybody knows the passion I have for Manchester United. I understand the responsibility and significance of wearing this shirt, and the levels of dedication and desire required to represent this incredible club.”

Reflecting on his time at the club, Fernandes highlighted some of his memorable moments, saying, “I have had so many special moments here already; hearing my name sung from the Stretford End, scoring a hat trick against Leeds, leading the team out at Old Trafford on European nights, and lifting trophies at Wembley.

“But I wouldn’t have signed this contract if I didn’t believe that my best moments in a United shirt are still to come.”

Fernandes had previously indicated that he wanted to see how committed United was to his future before finalising his decision. He added, “From my discussions with the football leadership and manager, it is clear how determined everyone is to fight for major trophies in the years ahead.

“I can see how positive the future is going to be and I am relishing leading this team forward.”

Fernandes’ new contract secures his place at Old Trafford and sends a strong message of stability and ambition as Manchester United prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season, starting with their home clash against Fulham on Friday night.
