The European champions are close to offering goalkeeper Edouard Mendy an excellent contract, reports The Sun.

It is believed the new deal to keep Mendy at Stamford Bridge will see him receive around £100,000 per week.

Manager Thomas Tuchel sees the Blues keeper as an integral part of his team and recently said of the 29-year-old: "I’m super happy with him. "He’s an outstanding guy with a fantastic personality, super humble, super calm. His development from the first day has been outstanding.

"He plays with so much confidence. It’s so hard to score against him in training.

"Our goalkeeper coaches and the second and third goalkeepers did a fantastic job.

"Because only if they are a top team and push each other to the limits can a number one perform like he performs.

"He is calm because he feels safe in his environment. Every top team needs a top goalkeeper, and we have one."

Mendy joined the west London club from from Ligue 1 side Rennes in the summer of 2020 and has been a sensation since he became the main man between the sticks at Chelsea.
