Chelsea are topping the Premier League list for most paid agents' fees.
According to the new data published by the FA, Chelsea have spent more than £35m on agents’ fees between February 1, 2020 to the start of February 2021.
As we all know, Chelsea made big signings last summer, bringing in players like England defender Ben Chilwell from Leicester and Germany international Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and others.
The FA’s report on intermediary fees between February 1, 2020 and the same date this year showed that the Blues spent a total of £35,247,822.
The next big spending sides on agents’ fees were the Manchester clubs, with City’s expense £30,174,615 and United’s £29,801,555, while the lowest English top-flight spenders were West Brom, whose outlay was £4,222,059.
The FA also revealed the Premier League teams spent a joint total of £272,220,223 on agent fees between February 1, 2020 and February 1, 2021, despite the financial hit they have suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Many have urged Fifa to cap the amount of commission football agents can earn on transfers but we are not sure whether the sport's governing body have all the power to do so.
