Chelsea FC have officially announced the acquisition of midfielder Moises Caicedo on an eight-year contract, following the agreement of a groundbreaking £115 million deal.
Brighton maintained a steadfast stance on their Ecuadorian asset throughout the summer, rejecting several prior efforts from both Chelsea and other top-tier Premier League teams.
This led to a bidding war among clubs, with Liverpool initially reaching an accord and their manager, Jurgen Klopp, openly mentioning the player in his press conference ahead of the weekend, in connection with what seemed to be a £111 million transfer.
Nevertheless, the Ecuadorian player was unwavering in his desire for a move to Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea made a substantial counteroffer of £115 million, which was ultimately accepted, resulting in Caicedo officially signing his contract.
'I am so happy to join Chelsea! I am so excited to be here at this big club and I didn't have to think twice when Chelsea called me, I just knew I wanted to sign for the club,' he expressed.
'It's a dream come true to be here and I can't wait to get started with the team.'
