Curtis Jones Aims to Cement Liverpool Role After Injury Setback

Curtis Jones Fights for Liverpool Spot After Injury Setback, Praises Teammates’ Impact

Curtis Jones is working to maintain his place in Liverpool's starting lineup after overcoming a minor knee issue.

The 23-year-old midfielder was initially substituted during a match against Real Betis but returned to play 45 minutes in Liverpool's 2-1 friendly win over Arsenal.

Jones expressed his concern about the injury but confirmed that it is manageable. He aims to prove his worth consistently to keep his spot in the team.

In the Arsenal match, Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho scored goals with both assists coming from Harvey Elliott, who played in an advanced No. 10 role.

Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai operated as deeper midfielders. Jones commended Elliott for his performance and contributions to the team's success on the day.

“That’s part of the team,” Jones said about Elliott's role as the club's official website quoted. “Harv is great in that role, if he’s allowed to go and play free a bit.

“I told him inside the game, ‘Get yourself on the ball and just try to stay high, it’s my and Dom’s job to get you the ball.’ It’s one of them where if he goes and scores or gets an assist, he can have it all; but if I’m saying I’ve run everywhere and he never got an assist, it’s another story! [Laughs]

“But that’s part of Harv’s game – he wants to score, he wants to assist, he wants to help the team and he does it great. So I’m happy for him.”
