Pep Guardiola has confirmed David Silva will end the 2019-20 Premier League campaign with Manchester City.
The City boss is also expecting Silva to receive a "proper farewell" later on.
Silva's contract was due to expire at the end of June, but the playmaker will see out the season with Man City.
The 34-year-old, who joined the Citizens nine years ago from Spanish side Valencia for a reported fee of £21m, will be remembered as one of the great players to grace the Etihad turf after helping them secure four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five EFL Cups.
"Yeah, David will stay until the end of the season," the ex-Barca boss told reporters ahead of City's clash against Arsenal on Wednesday night.
"He will finish the last games without people, but hopefully he and the club can organise a proper farewell in front of people.
"Big clubs become incredible clubs when they make gestures to incredible players who have been here for more than a decade. Like Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart, Yaya Toure … all these players, Pablo Zabaleta. Sorry for the names I forget, but they know who they are.
"The situation is what it is, no-one wants it, David especially. The club will make an agreement with David and do what they have to do."
City sit in second spot in the Premier League table, 25 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
