Nemanja Vidic has expressed his confidence in goalkeeper Andre Onana's potential to excel at Manchester United after his transition from Serie A giants Inter Milan this summer.
Erik ten Hag pursued Onana’s signature after parting ways with David de Gea, who had served as United's primary goalkeeper for over a decade.
The move to secure Onana from Inter Milan cost approximately £47 million, placing significant expectations on the Cameroonian player to justify the price tag.
However, former United captain Vidic, firmly believes that Onana's history of performing in crucial matches will empower him to succeed at Old Trafford.
Reflecting on Onana's eventful Premier League debut against Wolves on Monday, Vidic shared his thoughts with Manutd.com, stating: “I’m expecting him to be a good replacement for David. We know how David was important for the squad for many years, but I think Onana can bring something different and, as well, to be important for us in the years to come.”
“He was in Inter, he has the experience of playing in a big team, and before [that] he was in Ajax, so all those teams have a winning mentality and they are challenging for the trophies.
“He’s ready to be part of the squad. And he’s ready to compete on a big level.”
