Frank Lampard: Hudson-Odoi is important to Chelsea.

Frank Lampard believes Hudson-Odoi is getting better.

Lampard insists that Hudson-Odoi is part of his plans at Chelsea.

Frank Lampard has poured cold water on rumours claiming Callum Hudson-Odoi isn’t part of his plans after he left the winger out of his Chelsea squad for Sunday's goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international Hudson-Odoi has been told to ignore the "noise" being made by the media, adding that he will get his opportunities.

Lampard revealed that he spoke to the 20-year-old, explaining why he was omitted for the Premier League match against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs over the weekend.

Lampard said: "I am aware of Callum and where he is at. He took it very well (missing Tottenham) and it is not an easy conversation to have because all players want to play, I expect that.

"He will get his opportunities. It is up to him to show when he plays that he deserves to start because there is competition in that area. That's the reality of playing for Chelsea.

"I am not worried about the noise around it or the permutations of what not being in the squad will be down the line. I want him to understand where he's at the minute, which is that he's getting better."
