Gabriel Jesus to Miss Saturday's Premier League Match Against Brighton
Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus is set to miss Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton due to a groin injury, though manager Mikel Arteta offered a positive update on the striker’s recovery.
"He’s progressing really well," Arteta said in a press conference on Friday, suggesting Jesus could return to action soon. Meanwhile, defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will also be unavailable, sidelined with a more serious knee problem.
Arteta remained tight-lipped on transfer speculation involving reported target Raheem Sterling, stating: "You know that I cannot talk about another player." He also refrained from commenting on Eddie Nketiah's potential move to Crystal Palace, saying, "When that happens, we can talk about that."
As the transfer deadline looms, Arteta hinted that Arsenal could still be active. "There are still a few hours to go. We are prepared. Let's see, it's always possible. In the last 24 hours of the transfer window, never rule out anything," he remarked.
Arteta also paid tribute to outgoing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who recently left the club for Southampton.
"Thank you so much for what he’s done for the club, for the team, and for myself. He brought a lot of joy and charisma and was really good when he joined," the Gunners boss Arteta said, expressing his appreciation for Ramsdale's contributions to the team.
Despite the absence of Jesus and Tomiyasu, Arteta remains focused on Arsenal's immediate challenge against Brighton and any potential last-minute moves in the transfer market.
