Gary McAllister: Liverpool Legend Praises Salah's Performance During USA Tour

Former Liverpool midfielder Gary McAllister has been impressed with Liverpool's performance during their preseason tour in the USA, particularly Mohamed Salah's training form.

The tour included stops in Pittsburgh, where Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Real Betis with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring from a Salah assist, and a training session in Philadelphia.

McAllister, who graced the Anfield pitch between 2000 and 2002, highlighted Salah’s skill as he told the club's official website: “There were a couple of occasions where he dragged the ball out of the air, made little movements onto his left side, and tucked it into the top corner. That’s what Mo Salah does.”

He emphasised the importance of Salah receiving the ball early and in advantageous positions to navigate tight defences effectively.

The match against the Spanish side Betis showcased Salah's brilliance and allowed several young players to impress after several second-half substitutions.

Next, Liverpool will face Arsenal in Philadelphia. McAllister appreciated the team's play and is eager to see their progress under new coach Arne Slot. “The game in Pittsburgh was a good exercise.

“We saw a lot of the youngsters playing, which was really exciting. Moving on to Philadelphia, I observed some interesting combination plays in training. I think we’ll see Liverpool making more passes in the final third,” he remarked.
