Guardiola, who managed Alcantara at Barcelona and Bayern, does not doubt the midfielder’s quality.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has backed Thiago Alcantara to shine in the Premier League.
The Spanish midfielder is on the verge of securing a transfer from Bayern Munich to Liverpool after reports in the Daily Express said that he has agreed personal terms with the Merseyside club.
Klopp is keen to bolster his midfield and sees the ex-Barca player - who has pulled out of talks over a new contract at the Allianz Arena - as a perfect fit for his side.
And, Guardiola, who managed the 29-year-old at Barcelona and Bayern, said he is an exceptional player.
Asked whether Thiago would suit Premier League football, Pep told Sky Sports: “No doubt about this.
“A player who plays in Barcelona and Bayern Munich can play in the Premier League. Yeah, of course he can play. He’s an exceptional player. But I don’t know what he’s going to do.”
Thiago’s current deal with the Bundesliga champions is set to expire in June 2021 and Bayern hope to get between £32 - 36m for the midfielder this summer.
