Gundogan expresses his delight and raves about how long he has spent at Man City after FA Cup glory.
Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scored a double as Manchester City beat local rivals Manchester United 2-1 to win the FA Cup on Saturday.
Gundogan, who has been an integral player in Pep Guardiola’s side, broke the deadlock 13 seconds into the game at Wembley but United equalised via Bruno Fernandes from the penalty spot after the referee penalised Jack Grealish for handling the ball.
And in the second half, the Cityzens captain Gundogan latched home from outside the box following a corner kick to make it 2-1 as the Premier League champions went on to clinch their second trophy of the 2022-23 campaign.
Gundogan said as mancity.com quoted: “I am very proud. It’s my seventh year now. I’ve never stayed that long at a football club.
"So that alone, just looking at the numbers, shows how much I appreciate the club, how much also I feel appreciated by the fans, my teammates, it’s an absolute joy to be part of this team, to work with Pep and his staff.
“I have learned a lot throughout the years. I had many ups and a few downs, we have won a lot together and every single trophy feels special. So far it has been amazing.”
Gundogan now has his mind set on winning the Champions League glory to make it a historic Treble for Man City.
He added: “Now we want to crown it with that final (Champions League final vs Inter Milan).
“The last game of the season, a very, very special one – maybe the most special so far for us all in our careers. And obviously, we want to win it.
“We feel confident. We know it’s going to be a very uncomfortable game, a very uncomfortable opponent, I think it’s going to be tough but this group of players has shown already we don’t avoid the tough challenges.
“We embrace them and it’s going to be another one next week.”
