Havertz will wear the number 29 shirt at Arsenal.
Kai Havertz has expressed his delight at joining the 'Arsenal family' following his move from Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium.
The 24-year-old, who spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge, is keen on making an impact with his new side.
Speaking exclusively to Arsenal.com, the German revealed that he is excited about joining Mikel Arteta’s team.
“It's super exciting for me personally,” he said. “I'm so glad to join this amazing club. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things, and I'm just looking forward to meeting all the players, the staff, and yeah, it's going to be exciting.”
When asked about his past experiences of playing against Arsenal, Kai answered: “I think the family mentality that the team has on the pitch is one of the reasons why it is so hard to play against Arsenal.
“I guess they have it off the pitch as well. So the team mentality in the squad is very, very high and you can feel that. Obviously, there're so many talented players and there’s a big room to achieve big things as well.”
Kai also revealed why he has decided to wear the number 29 shirt, which he has worn throughout his professional career.
"I have had it now for many years," he asserted. "I chose it when I became a professional in Germany; since then, it's always given me luck. When I became professional I took it because it has some history with my brother. We used to take it always when we played some video games together. I think it's the perfect number!"
On being part of the team that will feature in Arsenal’s return to the Champions League after a six-year absence, Havertz said: "I think the Champions League is a special tournament and I think every football player just loves to play there.
"I was fortunate to win the trophy and for me, it was the best feeling I've ever had. So to play there again next season with Arsenal is very exciting for me. Hopefully, I can bring some good attributes to the team, hopefully, to win the trophy again. Because I think it's the most special trophy to win."
Arteta: “Kai has great versatility and is intelligent.
Manager Mikel Arteta said of his new recruit: “Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.
“We welcome Kai and his family to Arsenal Football Club and we are all excited to start working with him when we start pre-season training soon.”
