Reports in Italy claim Inter Milan are set to capitalise on a free transfer for Cavani.
The Uruguay frontman Cavani was keen to leave the Ligue 1 champions because of the lack of regular first-team football.
Cavani Leaving PSG Rumbles On. Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly interested in the services of Uruguay international Edison Cavani. The veteran striker’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire at the end of June, and according to numerous tabloids in Italy the Nerazzurri are planning on handing the 33-year-old a deal. Cavani dropped down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes following the arrival of Icardi last summer and he handed in a transfer request in January, showing his discontent with the club.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Cavani wouldn't mind extending his stay with the Ligue 1 champions PSG, but Antonio Conte believes he still has the attributes to play in his Inter side next term.
More: Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen says there have been "serious" offers for him. The Uruguayan striker was also linked with a move to LaLiga club Atletico Madrid and Premier League side Chelsea in the winter transfer window, but nothing materialised as he remained with Thomas Tuchel’s Les Parisiens.
L'Equipe also stated last week that the former Napoli striker could sign an extension that will keep him with the Parisians beyond this summer.
However, with football on a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it remains to be seen if Cavani will continue to play a backup role at PSG.
