According to widespread reports the 22-year-old is seen as a long-term replacement for Suarez at Camp Nou.
However, former Nerazzurri captain Zanetti insists Lautaro Martinez's future is in Serie A football.
"Of the talents that have emerged, Lautaro is certainly among the best," Zanetti told Radio Continental. "Today I see his future in Italian football.
"He is one of the interesting players of Argentine football."
Martinez has also attracted interest from various clubs across Europe including the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City.
