Klopp explains what motivated Liverpool to smash Rangers.

Liverpool FC ripped Rangers apart with a brutal second-half display, and after the clash, Klopp said: 'We wanted more.'

Mohamed Salah scored in the 75th, 80th, and 81st minutes to record a sensational hat-trick against the Scottish club.

Jurgen Klopp pointed to the fact that a ‘really positive half-time talk’ was the catalyst to their 7-1 win over Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Rangers took the lead in the 16th minute when Scott Arfield put the ball past goalkeeper Alisson Becker, but Roberto Firmino levelled the score seven minutes later, and the Brazil international made it 2-1 ten minutes after the interval with a tap-in.

Striker Darwin Nunez finished off a superb assist from Firmino in the 76th minute before substitute Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick within six minutes, and Harvey Elliott got the seventh after a VAR check, sending the Ibrox into a complete meltdown.

It was an outstanding second-half performance from the Premier League giants, who only need a draw against Ajax in Amsterdam to secure a spot in the round of 16.

'We wanted more in the second half.'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "We had a really positive half-time talk. We wanted more in the second half. Clearly, it worked out.

"Special, particularly Mo [Salah]. Very important how we adapted to the positions, to the line-up. Everyone who started tonight played really well - Fabio [Carvalho] and Harvey [Elliott], really good. It's the best we could have asked for. I'm really pleased.

"I really think the first half prepared the second half. When we are on it, we can be a really good football team. We built on the good things from the first half, we kept them moving, and obviously, they had to change the centre-half.

"The goals we scored were exceptional. it's a night where things worked out for us. It changes the mood definitely, and that's good. We all know who is coming on Sunday (Manchester City). That will be different, but it's better to go in with the feeling from tonight."

'Not a bad thing winning 7-1.'

Liverpool defender Virgin van Dijk added: "It's not a bad thing winning 7-1 here.

"From the outside everyone expected us to win but we take it a game at a time. We know we're in a tough period."
