Liverpool have finalised a £27.5 million deal to sell 21-year-old attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho to Brentford.
As part of the agreement, Liverpool will receive 17.5% of any future transfer fee if Brentford sells Carvalho. According to the Mirror, the player is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Sunday to complete the move.
Several other clubs, including Southampton and Leicester, had expressed interest in Carvalho this summer. Liverpool initially signed him from Fulham in 2022 for a £5 million fee. Fulham secured a 20% sell-on clause from that transfer, which means they will receive a portion of the profits from Carvalho’s move to Brentford.
Carvalho had a noteworthy season last year, particularly during his loan spell at Hull City in the second half of the campaign, where he scored nine goals in 20 Championship matches. Before that, he spent time at RB Leipzig earlier in the season.
Carvalho joined Liverpool after emerging as one of Fulham’s most promising youth talents, having scored 12 goals in 44 appearances for them, primarily during their promotion-winning Championship campaign.
During his time at Liverpool, Carvalho made 21 appearances and scored three goals, but found more consistent success during his loan period at Hull City.
