Liverpool Boss Arne Slot: "We Have a Lot of Good Players"

Liverpool returned to winning form in emphatic style with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield, a performance that left manager Arne Slot praising both the team's overall play and individual contributions. The win sees Liverpool climb to the top of the Premier League, at least temporarily, as they continue their strong start to the season.

Speaking to BBC's Match of the Day, Slot reflected on the team's performance: "I think it was a good performance, especially with the ball. Quite a lot of shots on goal, a lot of chances, but not as easy as the score probably looks."

Luis Diaz was the standout performer, scoring twice in quick succession during the first half. Slot was quick to highlight not just Diaz's finishing, but also the build-up play that led to the goals. "They were really good finishes but it's also important what led to the finish. They were really aggressive, Bournemouth, so [Ibrahima] Konate understood a ball in behind was a good one to take. For the second, Trent [Alexander-Arnold] made a good run with the ball and Luis finished both off really well."

Darwin Nunez, making his first Premier League start since April, also found the back of the net with a stunning curling drive. Slot acknowledged the importance of Nunez adding goals to his game, while also praising the striker's work rate. "We hope we are adding goals [to his game] because that is what you need from a striker but this work rate was really good. We have a lot of good players, a lot of competition, and as long as they keep performing it is a very good thing for me."

Slot also singled out Trent Alexander-Arnold for his dual role in both attack and defence, a combination that pleased the Liverpool boss. "I'm not surprised he is involved in so many goals because his quality is outstanding but what I also liked today was how he defended. If he can combine those two things he makes me really happy."

Reflecting on the match as a whole, Slot noted the significance of the victory despite the challenges posed by Bournemouth.

"It is normal we win a home game against Bournemouth but it is a tough schedule, and the teams you face are really strong. They made it a hard fight for us so it is good for us to win again and now let's continue, the Dutchman concluded"
