Luis Suarez will still have a place in Barcelona's squad if he does not leave Camp Nou.
Barcelona FC head coach Ronald Koeman says Luis Suarez will have a place in his team if the Uruguay international does not secure a move away for the Blaugrana this summer.
This has come as a surprise after the Dutchman, who replaced Quique Setien, initially said the former Liverpool forward wasn’t part of his plans.
Suarez has been heavily linked with Serie A giants Juventus as Barca look to overhaul their first-team, but the deal for the veteran forward has become complicated due to the length of time needed to obtain an Italian passport.
All in all, Koeman insists Suarez will not be frozen out of his Barca squad if he doesn’t seek pastures new.
"I've spoken to him about his future and we are waiting to see whether or not he leaves, we still don't know," Koeman told Catalan network TV3 after the win over Girona.
"But we respect every contract here and if in the end he does not find a club and he stays, he will be just like any other player in the squad."
When asked of Brazil midfielder Philippe Coutinho, the former Southampton and Everton coach said: "He is in high spirits at the moment, training and playing well.
"He has great quality. We must bear in mind that he needs the support of the coach and the fans."
Barca have a pre-season friendly to play against Elche on Saturday before starting their LaLiga campaign at the Camp Nou vs. Villarreal next weekend.
