Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones express their delight after Man City beat Man Utd to lift the FA Cup as the Cityzens stay on course for a historic treble.
Kevin De Bruyne says he can’t feel the pressure as Manchester City get within reach of the treble.
The Belgium international De Bruyne won his second FA Cup since he became a Cityzen back in 2015 following City’s 2-1 win over Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s side had already won the Premier League last month and the historic FA Cup triumph yesterday makes it a double, however, De Bruyne is hoping he and his teammates secure a win in the Champions League final against Serie A side Inter Milan next weekend.
“I don’t feel like there’s any pressure,” De Bruyne replied when asked about the Treble being within reach for City.
“We’ve had a great season already and I think we’re going to try and be as ready as best we can be and we’ll go to Istanbul and play another great game.
“It’s been an incredible season and hopefully we can make it even better.”
It’s an incredible feeling
City and England defender John Stones added: “I’m so proud of everyone. That is very hard to do. It’s an incredible feeling, the emotion.
“Especially against our neighbours.
“And what a start to the game. I’ve been in a few big games where we score early and it hasn’t ended how we wanted, so today, our mindset and approach, our courage, was incredible.
“It was never going to be an easy game, I’m just so pleased.”
Man City will now divert their attention to the Champions League final in Istanbul against Inter where they have the opportunity to make more history by securing the Treble.
“It’s close. As I said, we have to focus on the game in hand,” he said. "Everyone’s mindset has been incredible to just focus on today and not get ahead of ourselves.
“We’ve crossed this hurdle now and we can dream. Hopefully, we can do it.”
Stones also lauded match-winner and Man City Captain Ilkay Gundogan after his amazing display that saw the German midfield maestro score a double.
“What a player. On the big occasion we’ve all seen it, he turns up and scores incredible goals.
“How he dictates everything. He’s an incredible player and incredible person.”
