  • Goals from Ighalo, James, Mata, Greenwood and Andreas put United in the driving seat of their Europa League last-16 tie.

Manchester United have effectively booked a place in the Europa League quarter-finals after smashing LASK 5-0 in the first leg of the last-16 tie in Linz.

The match was played behind closed doors on Thursday evening due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Nigeria international Odion Ighalo broke the deadlock [his fourth goal for the Red Devils] with a brilliant volley before assisting Daniel James, who doubled the lead in the 58th minute.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side continued to control the match as Juan Mata made it 3-0 in the 82nd minute, and substitute duo Mason Greenwood and Andreas Pereira wrapped up the win for the awayside in injury time.

The result at the Linzer Stadion means United are now unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions.
