Manchester United have announced the hiring of Ruben Amorim as their new manager, effective November 11. The 39-year-old Portuguese coach joins from Sporting Lisbon on a contract running until June 2027.
Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took over after Erik ten Hag's sacking, will lead the team for the next three matches. Amorim becomes the sixth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, and the Red Devils have lauded him as one of Europe’s most promising young coaches.

United paid €10 million (£8.3 million) to trigger his release clause. Amorim's first match will be on November 24 against Ipswich, with subsequent games scheduled against Bodo/Glimt and Everton. He currently leads Sporting in a league match tonight and has maintained a 14-game unbeaten streak since losing to Porto in August.
