Oscar Bobb's Setback and City’s Transfer Adjustments

Manchester City's Oscar Bobb faces 3-4 months out after fracturing his fibula in training. He'll undergo surgery in Barcelona and could return before Christmas.

Oscar Bobb, Manchester City's rising 21-year-old talent, is facing an unexpected setback after fracturing his fibula during a training session on Wednesday. The injury, described as a "clean break," will require surgery, which Bobb will undergo at Ramon Cugat’s renowned clinic in Barcelona.

Although the news is disappointing, City sources are optimistic about his recovery, estimating a three to four-month rehabilitation period with the hope of his return before Christmas.

Bobb had been a standout during the pre-season, even earning the Player of the Match title in the Community Shield victory over Manchester United, and was on track to start in the Premier League opener against Chelsea.

With Bobb sidelined, Manchester City is now re-evaluating their options on the right wing, where Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Savinho remain in contention for regular spots. The injury has prompted discussions about potential moves in the transfer market to bolster the squad as they head into the new season.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kalvin Phillips is finalizing a loan move to Ipswich Town, a decision that further reflects City’s evolving strategy as they balance player development with immediate team needs.
