Roma confirmed the signing of winger Pedro from West London club Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Spaniard became a free agent after his deal at the Premier League club expired in June.

The 33-year-old spent five seasons at Stamford Bridge, where he won the English Premier League, FA Cup, and a Europa League trophy with the Blues.

Pedro had already won five La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies with Barca before he moved to Chelsea in 2015.

"Obviously when you arrive in a new club, you deserve to win again, no? I understand that it's difficult at this moment, but it's not impossible. My ambition is always really high," Pedro said.

“When I arrive here, I want to speak with the coach and also with all the staff here. I want to win with Roma. It's possible to win trophies, but I understand that it's a big challenge for everyone here and also for the team.

"Because it's a team...it's a big club. In a few years, maybe this team (will) growing up a lot, (and) for these reasons I come here and I speak also with Paolo (Fonseca). He's a good coach and he also speaking with me.

"It's a very good moment for me to come here and to play with the teammates for something special. Obviously I repeat, it's difficult, but it's not impossible to play with this team because there are so many good players here, top players, for this reason, I come here."
