Phil Foden is not looking forward to David Silva's imminent departure from Manchester City and wishes the club could hand the veteran attacking midfielder a new deal.
Foden found the net twice in City’s 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday evening, with Riyad Mahrez scoring a brace and Silva also hitting the target.
The midfield maestro Silva is set to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2019/20 season after 10 trophy-laden years with the Citizens, and Foden, who has been tipped to fill the ex-Valencia midfielder’s boots says the 34-year-old will be missed.
"They should extend his contract, to be honest! How he plays today, he's unbelievable to play with," Foden told Sky Sports.
"I don't want to think about [Silva leaving] too much.
"I'm just enjoying playing with him. He's a great guy and a legend of the club."
Foden said of his performance against Sean Dyche’s Clarets: "I think that was my best game in City shirt, to be honest. "I'm still learning every day, I'm still young. I've got a long way to go. "I'm really happy when I put performances like that in." He added: "We have a set-piece coach. We've been working really hard on short corners and defending as well. "I knew where I was going to play the pass, it's just about just disguising it to give the player more time. I'm glad it came off."
