North London, UK - In a thrilling Premier League encounter, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke about his team's calculated approach in their 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Argentine also revealed his delight to have secured three points against his former club Spurs. Pochettino's decision to substitute Levi Colwill, who had received a yellow card, was a topic of discussion, and he explained after the match: "Yes because I think after the yellow card he lost a little bit his focus and it is too much risk. Marc [Cucurella] is doing well also, so I thought not to take a risk. I thought getting another yellow card was going to be a risk for us."
Regarding Tottenham's high line, Pochettino commented: "When you are on the top of the table, you can try everything. When the confidence is there, you try it. If we try something like this, then in every movement you concede. We are maybe in a different position and with space in behind, we can maybe score more goals."
Pochettino also addressed Nicolas Jackson's hat-trick, saying: "I think it is about building his confidence. We know when a striker is young and arrives at a club like Chelsea, it is massive. He is so young and came from Spain, a different league, and he needs to improve. I hope this hat-trick can allow him to play more relaxed and find the confidence he needs."
Reflecting on the victory at Spurs, Pochettino emphasised the importance of the three points. "I am so happy because the three points mean a lot for us. We are in a situation where we need to win points. I am happy to come back and see people I didn't get the chance to say bye to. Most important for me is the win. It is Tottenham, and it is not more special because of that," he concluded.
