Man City forward Sterling has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season, making it his best scoring season of his career.
The England forward Sterling was delighted they sealed a win on the road after three consecutive Premier League away defeats.
Hat-trick hero Raheem Sterling was happy Manchester City sealed a win away from the Etihad after failing to do so against Southampton last week.
The Citizens beat Brighton and Hove Albion 5-0 last night thanks to a Sterling hat-trick and goals from Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva.
The win means City have sealed a Champions League spot this season, though, they will have to wait until Monday to confirm wether their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a two-year European ban will be successful.
Sterling has scored six goals in his past five games and moved onto 27 in all competitions last night, making this his most prolific club campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the triumph at the Amex Community Stadium, Sterling said: "We were disappointed last week to lose at Southampton. We created chances but couldn’t finish. It's great to bounce back with an away win.
"The problem we’ve had this season is creating a lot of chances and last season we finished them. This season we’ve not had the luck but we’re growing and doing things right."
On the best goalscoring season of his career (27 for Man City so far), the England international replied: "The most important thing for me is to add goals to the team. We want to win the FA Cup and the Champions League otherwise these goals don’t mean anything. I need to make sure they count."
On the bizarre third goal, he added: "I tried to flick it over his head and I saw the keeper come out and tried to head it in."
Sterling's hat-trick means he has 17 league goals this season, and a total of 27 in all competitions.
