Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend is convinced Gareth Bale is not happy with life at Real Madrid and 'wishes he was at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Los Blancos outcast Bale has been constantly linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu after falling down the pecking order under coach Zinedine Zidane.

Bale's former teammate Townsend told TalkSport: “I think if anything the Bale situation, he'd want to go back to Spurs. The memories of Spurs. His happiness.

“'He would be like: "I wish I was at Spurs now and had the freedom to do whatever I want. To express myself and not worry about where I am now where I get scrutinised for playing golf."'

According to reports, the Welshman rejected being a part of the Zinedine Zidane squad that lost to Manchester City in the Champions League last week.
