Real Madrid Beat Espanyol to Continue Winning Form

Real Madrid once again demonstrated that they are not a side to be shoved off by overturning a deficit to secure a commanding 4-1 victory over Espanyol.

In a match that highlighted their depth, creativity, and relentless pressure, Los Blancos continued their impressive unbeaten run in La Liga, moving closer to the top of the table.

A Shaky Start: Courtois’ Unfortunate Own Goal

Despite Real Madrid's dominance from the outset, the match took a surprising turn early in the second half. Thibaut Courtois, usually a rock in goal, was caught out by a Jofre Carreras cross that deflected off him and into the net. Espanyol, who had been largely on the defensive, found themselves in an unexpected lead, leaving Madrid with a challenge on their hands.

The Swift Response: Carvajal Levels the Score

Real Madrid didn't waste time dwelling on the setback. Just four minutes later, Jude Bellingham seized an opportunity, threading a pass that slipped under Espanyol’s goalkeeper, Joan Garcia.

Dani Carvajal was perfectly positioned to capitalise, firing into an open net to level the score. The goal reignited Madrid’s momentum, setting the stage for a powerful comeback.

The Winning Formula: Rodrygo and Vinicius Seal the Deal

As the game progressed, Madrid's attacking prowess became increasingly evident. With 15 minutes left on the clock, Rodrygo met a well-placed cross from Vinicius Junior, heading home to give Real Madrid the lead. The celebration was barely over when Vinicius himself added a third, finding the back of the net just three minutes later, putting the result beyond doubt.

Mbappe’s Magic: A Penalty to Cap Off the Night

Not content with just assisting, Kylian Mbappe got in on the scoring action as well. After a foul on Endrick by Carlos Romero, Mbappe stepped up to the penalty spot, converting with his usual confidence. This marked his fourth goal in three La Liga games, solidifying his status as one of the most impactful players in Madrid's star-studded lineup.
