Redknapp reckons signing Gareth Bale would be brilliant for Tottenham.
Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is convinced Gareth Bale's expected return to the north London club will help them secure a top-four place.
Tottenham are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Real Madrid to re-sign Gareth Bale on loan.
Bale left Tottenham to join La Liga giants Real Madrid for a record £86million deal back in 2013
"He’s just a special player. This is an amazing signing for Tottenham," Redknapp, who had four years with Welshman at White Hart Lane, told BBC Breakfast TV.
"I was looking at Tottenham a week ago and thinking I can’t see a way they’d make the top four this year – they’d do well to finish top six.
"Suddenly this has changed everything, Gareth coming in. He can change that team.
"It will push them forward big time. I really do see them challenging certainly for a top four position - I see them making the top four now."
The ex-Spurs boss added: "No-one likes criticism but his record at Real Madrid was incredible. He’s not an out and out centre forward but to score that amount of goals, you couldn’t ask for much more. He really has done it on the big stage.
"It’ll be interesting to see how Jose plays him. He’s got Son – who’s an incredible player – and Harry Kane in the middle. I mean them three in a forward line really is exciting. That would send fear through any defence in the country.
"He’s worth the money. If things don’t work out, and I’m sure they will, it’s a loan for one season. Daniel Levy is a very shrewd operator and I’m sure he’s done a very good deal."
