Aaron Ramsdale has been a sensation since joining Arsenal for £24 million in the summer.
Rio Ferdinand has lauded Aaron Ramsdale’s performance so far at Arsenal and has labelled the shot-stopper as an 'inspired signing'.
The ex-Manchester United defender is convinced Ramsdale’s current form between the Gunners’ sticks has been 'phenomenal'.
Many critics were waiting to lash onto the 23–year-old after the north London side spent £24m to bring him to the Emirates despite relegating twice with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.
However, it has come as a surprise that the man who was an unused substitute for his first two Premier games with the Gunners has taken Bernd Leno’s spot in goal since September and is not looking like he will be given up that position anytime soon after keeping six clean sheets in 10 games.
‘Ramsdale’s been an inspired signing,’ Ferdinand said on his podcast on Tuesday.
‘There were a lot of people doubting him, he’s had two or three relegations in his career already.
‘But the saves he’s making on a regular basis, he’s actually allowing you lot to keep clean sheets. It’s six clean sheets in 10 games, that’s phenomenal.’
Arsenal are currently fifth in the English top-flight table, same points as West Ham, ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Thursday.
