Ruben Amorim Discusses Recruitment, Changes, and Challenges Ahead of Ipswich

Ruben Amorim Talks Recruitment and Team Changes Ahead of Ipswich Debut

As Ruben Amorim prepares for his first match as Manchester United head coach, the Portuguese tactician shared his thoughts on what needs to change at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match against Ipswich Town, Amorim expressed a strong desire to reshape both the club’s recruitment process and the way his players approach the game.

When asked about the challenges he faces in building a competitive squad, Amorim didn’t shy away from his expectations. "This is a football club that will be here for a long time. You have to work with everyone together, we have to improve the process of recruitment," he said.

"I want to have a strong position on that because of how I want to play. It should be together, but I think the manager should get the final say. When everything is aligned, we can buy and sell players."

The 39-year-old also touched on the specifics of the team’s performance, citing the need for improvement in several areas. "We lose the ball too often, we have to be better at running back," he explained. "We have to be very good in the details. It’s the small things, we have to improve the small things. Understanding the small things, I think is what I’m good at."

When asked if he feels the weight of expectations after taking over such a high-profile club, Amorim was candid in his response: "At Manchester United, we have to win games. I don’t know how long it will take, but we need a lot of time because it's a tough league. We have to improve a lot to try to win the title."

While Amorim acknowledged that the Red Devils need to improve in a lot of areas, he remained confident that the team can rise to the challenge. "We have space to grow as a team," he added. "We have to improve in a lot of areas. It’s a different way of playing, and we are changing the way we play."

With his eyes firmly on the future, Amorim has already set out a plan for the squad and the club’s direction. Now, as he prepares for his first game in charge against Ipswich, United fans are hoping that his approach will spark a much-needed turnaround and lead the club to the heights they expect.
