Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Cristiano Ronaldo has had an 'immense impact' since he rejoined the club this summer.

The Norwegian heaped praise on Ronaldo, who has rescued United on occasions this season, banishing remarks from those suggesting that Ronaldo might be “a negative” for the Red Devils team.

“How people can say that is a negative?” said Solskjaer ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford as ManUtd.com quoted. “I can't see one. He’s one of the best players that’s ever walked on this planet, and his impact so far – on and off the pitch – has been absolutely immense.

“The goals he scores, the way he conducts himself in and around the place… We’re really, really pleased he has started off as well as he has, but that’s what he does.

“He scores goals, he works for his team, and he’s a top, top professional.”

Man Utd host Manchester City tomorrow and Solskjaer's side will be looking to maintain their recent record against Pep Guardiola's Cityzens.

United have been unbeaten in their last four league games against City (won three, drawn one), their longest run against them since a run of six between 2008 and 2011.
