Thiago Alcantara edging closer to a move to Premier League side Liverpool.

Premier League champions Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal with Bundesliga club Bayern Munich for Thiago Alcantara.

It is believed the initial fee for the Spanish midfielder is £20m which will be paid over the length of the contract. But, with add-ons, the fee could rise to £25m.

According to widespread reports, the add-ons depend on appearances and honours won with the Merseyside club as well as individual accolades.

The 29-year-old will be signing a four-year deal at Anfield and will wear his favourite number 6 shirt.

Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick also confirmed Alcantara will be leaving the Allianz Arena and congratulated Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

"Thiago was an exceptional player for seven years with Bayern Munich," Flick said. "It was a joy working with him.

"I congratulate Jurgen Klopp. He gets a top player and a sensational person."
