The midfield star could miss the rest of the season following a fractured ankle.
Arsenal have confirmed that midfield marshal Lucas Torreira has sustained a fractured ankle.
The Uruguay international sustained the injury in the Gunners’ 2-0 FA Cup win against Portsmouth last Monday and was seen leaving Fratton Park on crutches.
Scan results showed Torreira is set to miss eight to 10 weeks of action after suffering a fracture in his right ankle.
It’s a major blow Mikel Arteta’s side who continued their pursuit for a Champions League spot by beating West Ham 1-0 over the weekend.
A statement on injuries on Arsenal‘s website said for Torreira: “Right ankle. Sustained fracture to right ankle during Portsmouth (a) on March 2. Still receiving continual assessments. Recovery process expected to take between eight to ten weeks.”
