Harry Kane has expressed his delight at Tottenham’s pre-season win against Rangers FC - and asked his teammates to take their revivified mentality into the new Premier League season.
The England captain has been in fine form for the Lilywhites, scoring five goals in three pre-season matches, and is looking to start the 2022-23 campaign on a high.
Rangers, who begin their SPL campaign on Saturday took the lead through Antonio Colak midway through the first half but Spurs turned things around at the start of the second half as Harry first found the top corner of the net with a brilliant strike and then fired home from 16 yards, both goals assisted by South Korea international Heung-Min Son.
“We look good, we’ve had some great additions, we’re working hard, the manager, all the staff have been fantastic, and we have a great team,” Harry Kane said after Spurs’ win at Ibrox as Spurs' official site reported. “But, as always, we have to take it into the season.
“It’s a long season, it’s not just about August or September, it’s a marathon with the World Cup in-between. The squad looks great, everyone is moving in the right direction and there is a really good feeling amongst the fans and us, so it’s down to us to go out there and start the season well.”
Kane added: “Any game you play whether it’s pre-season, during the season, you want to score, you want to feel good, want to feel the back of the net, thankfully I was able to do that.
“I thought we played really well as a team. First half, we had three, four, five good chances we should have put away, and in the second half we continued that and took a couple. It was a tough game against a good side and overall, really good preparation.
“We’re getting sharper, feeling fitter every game and every training session and these are the games you need, tough opposition, feel the game, feel the atmosphere and we were able to do that.
“This felt like a ‘proper’ game, it could have been during the season with the atmosphere, against a good side. We wanted to win, we wanted that winning feeling and take that momentum into the rest of pre-season and, hopefully, into the start of the season.”
