Reflecting on his unusual venture into goal-scoring territory, Victor Lindelof shared his joy in finding the net during Manchester United's crucial win against Luton in the Premier League on Saturday.
The defender emphasised that while personal milestones are enjoyable, the primary focus remains to secure vital points for the Red Devils, a mission accomplished on this occasion. Lindelof praised the team's performance in the first half, applauding their ball retention, patience, and the creation of goal-scoring opportunities.
Acknowledging the room for improvement, particularly in maintaining control after taking the lead, Lindelof highlighted the team's collective responsibility to stick together and deliver results.
"I don't score many goals, and when I do it is fun," the Swede told BBC's MOTD. "The most important thing was getting the points, and thankfully we got that today.
"I thought we played well in the first half today. We kept the ball, and we were patient. We created chances as well. After we scored, we dropped down a little bit in level and that is what we need to improve - to keep controlling the game."
Looking ahead, he expressed the team's aspiration to elevate their playing standards in future matches, instilling hope and optimism among United supporters. It is about getting the results. We need to stick together and do our thing. Hopefully, we can play better in the future as well," he concluded.
