Zidane focused of Champions League clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Updated: Dec 10, 2020

Zidane isn’t worried about reports claiming he will be axed if his side don’t qualify for the Champions League last 16.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane says he is not worried about losing his job if Real Madrid do not secure a spot in the next round of the Champions League.  Los Blancos sit in third spot in Group B ahead of their Champions League clash against Borussia Moenchengladbach on Wednesday evening. A win against the Bundesliga club will guarantee Madrid’s progress into the next round or at least a result better than Shakhtar Donetsk's result against Inter Milan. Reports in Spain claim the Frenchman will be axed if Real do not go through, however Zidane says he solely focussed on the game rather than rumours about his future with the LaLiga giants.  "The club will do what they have to do (in the event of not qualifying), as they always do, but I'm only thinking about the game," Zidane told a news conference.

"I'm not thinking about anything else other than winning. I'm focused on tomorrow's game and we know what we have to do. It'll be tough, but we need to be able to walk off the pitch satisfied with our work.

"We know there's another game going on (Inter versus Shakhtar), but we're only thinking about our game. We're up against a tough side who will make life difficult for us.

"We know exactly what the situation is. We want to get the three points and finish top of the group; that's what we're all thinking about. All matches are important but this is a great chance to show what we are as a team."

Real Madrid have won Europe’s elite competition 13 times and have never failed to make it out of the group stages.
